ABout the enhancements featured at this event
The Berkshire County Kids' Place held their "A Night in Emerald City" Fundraising Gala at the Country Club of Pittsfield on October 18, 2019. In addition to DJing and emceeing portions of the Gala, I provided the lighting and décor services featured below.
Guests entering the building and passing through registration were treated to large video projections of the "Wizard of Oz" I splashed across the space. We stuck with a black and white theme for this space, enhanced by my stark white uplighting. The client provided this yellow brick road to guide guests to the event spaces to come.
Guests next found themselves in the silent auction space. Music and announcements from the main event space were piped into this overflow space. The poppy field theme of this room was driven by the bright poppies the client placed along this long auction table and the matching uplighting I provided to saturate the walls with color. I also provided bright downlighting on the bid sheets as this is a major source of income at this event and these are really the showcase of the space.
Guests moving through the auction room catch a glimpse of the Emerald City to come courtesy of 2 of my crystal columns filling the next space with a bright green glow.
The view of the columns flanking the poppy room as seen by guests heading back in to see how their silent auction bids are faring.
Two more crystal columns flanked the podium where the formal presentation was centered. These worked well to introduce the tall vertical shafts of green light at the heart of Emerald City designs. I took advantage of lighting some structural columns in the space with green uplighting to achieve a similar effect. I also spotlighted the podium in natural light so he presenters could be seen and photographed well.
Green light is a bold design choice and too much of it is not good. To keep the space from being overtaken by it, I embraced chartreuse as the event's accent color. It was lifted directly from the event's printed collateral and online motif.
I also dressed up the space with ceiling drapes, accented the existing the chandeliers with bright pops of green light, and hung 4 matching crystal chandeliers to compliment the crystal columns.
The sponsors of this fundraising event were featured on a rolling slideshow provided by the client and shown on this 50 inch display I provided, complete with an elegant custom frame. Compared to projection gear, this space-saving solution works incredibly well when placed in a high-traffic area, in this case, beside guests waiting for a drink at the bar.
The client did well to include tons of things to tie the theme together!
